Feeling SO Ahead of the Curve!

Let me start by saying, “SORRY! IT’S BEEN FOREVER!” (I’m screaming with all caps because I’m so sorry…not mad.) I’ve been a busy busy girl! Not sure what I’ve been doing with my time. When I look back on the past week it seems like nothing, but I swear I’ve been busy…I think.

Here I am, though! I’m ready to share the absolute greatest feeling with you! So here it is! The greatest joy my heart could ever feel is when… I head over to Apartment Therapy (www.apartmenttherapy.com) and they have blogged about something I’ve already done, used, and or blogged about! Call me silly, but seriously, it makes me feel so ahead of the curve!!

I was having a ho-hum kind of day, (I honestly don’t think I’ve ever used the expression “ho-hum” before. I think I’m going to try and never use it again. I think it might make me sound socially challenged.) Does it look at all similar (even a little bit) to something I’ve blogged about?

Are you seeing it? Now there are quite a few differences, but it’s similar! I’ve seen fabrics similar before, and I fell completely in love with them. The first fabric of this kind I fell in love with was similar the the one in this picture…

The fabric on the far right is definitely a fabric I would like to use in our future (hopefully not too distant future) basement. Since it may be a while, I’m glad I was able to find something similar to work in our living room. Oh how I love!

Side note: I was want to learn more technical design terms! I’m happy to now know that these designs are called Ikat! Yay for learning!

So I went inspiration shopping (you know look around to get those “I bet I can find a way to accomplish this look much cheaper” ideas) a couple weekends ago. I hit all the usuals…HomeGoods, JoAnn’s, Pottery Barn, and Create and Barrel. As I was drooling around Create and Barrel, I found this:

It was like a yellow dream come true. This beautiful baby is $169! Um…”I love lamp,” but not that much! So I walked away in love but broken hearted. (I am truly OBSESSED with yellow right now. It’s just a phase.)

So excuse me while I TOTALLY change the subject. It will all come together later. When was the last time you went into a Goodwill? Oh my gosh that place is always a mad house! I’m telling you I frequent 3 different Goodwill stores, and every single one of them is always packed full of “I must have this now” crazies bumping into you! I love checking things out in there from time to time, (ok weekly…so what?!) but goodness you almost need protective gear to go in there! Once, I went to Goodwill and happened to eye a little end table. I decided to purchase it for a repurposed bathroom vanity but left it where it was to look around a bit more. Not five minutes later I went back and it was gone! GONE! Weird! I mean…I like old junk as much as the next person, but fighting all the crazies is sometimes not even worth it to me. Until… (this is where it comes full circle) the day after I spotted the above mentioned Create and Barrel love of my life, something oh so magical happened. After being heartbroken by that far too expensive but oh so beautiful lamp, I shoved it into the back of my mind and hoped to never wish for it again. Then, I went to Goodwill the following day. There she was…

I instantly became a Goodwill crazy! I snagged this beauty up right away feeling flustered and worried that someone might rip this dream right from my arms! Sounds dramatic I know…I totally understand the Goodwill madness now! She may not be an exact match but she was darn close and $10. This was fate!

I then went to Target to buy her her very own lamp shade. Now Miss. Beautiful Lamp is living happily ever after at my little love nest! YAY! I don’t even care anymore…I’ll admit it…I’m totally one of those Goodwill crazies!
